Players at our football tournament raised £936 for Burrough Green Playgroup, which is run from Burrough Green Primary School in Bradley Road. The playgroup put the funds towards improving its outdoor play area and equipment.
Michelle Wishart, chairman of the Burrough Green Playgroup committee, said: “The ladies who run the playgroup have got lots of ideas on how to improve the outside area, so it’s fantastic they raised so much. My children are about to leave the playgroup so it’s a nice legacy to leave.”
The charity tournament was held at the playing fields in Burrough Green on Sunday.
Eight teams from Burrough Green and the surrounding villages paid to enter the tournament, which also included a raffle, auction and barbecue.
Organiser Neil Harris and Mark Penhaligan, from Burrough Green, plan to hold similar events every year to raise money for local charities.
