Your Child
Learning Journeys
Playgroup keeps a learning journal for each child in its care. We use an online learning Journal called Tapestry. Staff and parents work together on their children’s Learning Journey. Parents are always welcome to look at their child’s Learning Journey at anytime by using their personal log in details.
Special Needs
Playgroup works to the requirements of the 1993 Education Act and the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice (2000). It is part of our policy to make sure that we are fully inclusive and can meet the needs of each individual child. We take account of any special needs a child may have.
Settling In
We recommend that parents make familiarisation visits with their child before they actually start, free of charge. We want your child’s first experience of Playgroup to be a happy one. It may be useful for you to spend time with your child once they have started with us, to make this settling in process successful.
Snacks and Drinks
We aim to make snack time a social time and children and staff sit and eat together. Snacks will usually consist of fruit, milk and water. Each day we have something different to go with our fruit e.g. sandwiches, toast, cheese and crackers.
What your child will need
Some of our activities can be joyfully messy and although plastic aprons are provided, please send your child in clothes that you will not mind getting dirty. We also spend a lot of time in the outside area where the children have access to lots of mud and water!!
Should you child wish to bring in an item from home “to show” to the group, they are quite welcome. We have a “Show and Tell” box for the children to leave their items in so that they do not get lost.
