Our Curriculum
The children’s individual needs are met through activities that follow a broad based curriculum.
Each member of staff has a group of children for which they are particularly responsible. Your child’s 'key person' will be the staff member who works with you to make sure that what we provide is right for your child’s particular needs and interests.
When your child first starts at the playgroup, they will help your child to settle and throughout your child’s time at playgroup and will liaise with you to ensure that we support your child and to ultimately assist them to reach their full potential.
After a child's first six weeks of attending playgroup there will be an 'on entry assessment' carried out by the child's key person, so we have a base of each individual child's starting point. This gives the key person an idea of interests and needs.
We follow the EYFS curriculum which covers the following prime areas of learning:
1. Personal, Social and Emotional Development.
2. Communication and Language.
3. Physical Development.
As children grow and develop the prime areas we then help them to develop skills in the specific areas of:
4. Literacy
5. Mathematics
6. Understanding the World
7. Expressive Arts and Design
The following documents give further information of the EYFS curriculum.
